Solarorkli, solar system components

It was already said in May 2006: “Orkli is approaching to the solar system sector with some components”, as member of the Kioto Club and its high level of environmental commitment. Due to its effort in innovation Orkli is now launching its new catalogue with a range of components for solar heating systems to meet the sector requirement in saving saving energy and sustainable development. Orkli do Brasil has got in May 2007 the quality system certificate ISO 9001:2001. The UNE, Aenor nº 217 magazine showed the news where we could see the picture with the General Manager of Orkli do Brasil, Mr. Manuel García, the Quality manager Mr. Victor Alvarez and the Aenor Brasil General Manager.

Iñaki Ocaña new General Manager for Orkli,S.Coop.

Mr. Ocaña is Industrial Organization Engineer by the Navarra Universtiy (ETSII of San Sebastian). He has been working for Orkli during the last 25 years being involved in differents high responsibility jobs. During the last years he was responsible for the Water Heating Components Business Unit in Orkli.

Orkli is a company located in Ordizia (Gipuzkoa) manufacturing and selling components for Heating and Household appliances. With plants abroad (Brasil and China) and a wide sales network all over the world Orkli turnover is over 140 million euro and a labour force of 600 worker-members.

Orkli showcases its latest developments at the ISH 2007 in Frankfurt.

The Frankfurt ISH has become one of the leading international trade fairs, as proved by over 215,000 visitors arriving not only from Europe but also from Asia, North America, Korea, Japan and China.

Together with its full range of products, Orkli presented some of its latest developments at the fair, mainly components for solar heating systems, some of which already feature in its heating component catalogue. Orkli’s commitment to the environment is vouched for by the European Environment Award won in 2004.

Although Orkli is the leading Spanish company for heating components, over 75% of the turnover for its other business units consists of high-profit international sales to the sector’s top manufacturers. Its products are sold in over 65 countries, and it has its own sales offices in 20 of these. This significant international presence includes production plants abroad.

New Orkli plant in Shanghai to be inagurated soon.

ORKLI is the world leader in the gas appliance thermoelectric safety sector. It manufactures thermocouples and magnetic units for boilers, water heaters, gas cookers, etc. with a 60% world market share in the sector. In central heating components the company is also consolidating itself as the market leader in Spain with a wide range of components for central heating and domestic hot water.

It sells its products across the five continents and has offices of its own in more than 20 countries. In terms of this strong international dimension, its production plants in China, Brazil and Iran stand out.

Although a plant was set up in the Chinese city of Ningbo in 2002, at the end of February a new plant will be inaugurated on the Kunshan Industrial Estate close to Shanghai. These facilities occupy 10,000 m2 and will manufacture thermoelectric safety components like valves for the Chinese market, with an initial turnover of 8 million euros and a workforce of more than 150 people.

The Brazilian plant which is located in Sao Bernardo and was opened last year, has an initial workforce of 40 people and forecasts a turnover in excess of 5 million euros.

Over the last 10 years the co-operative has invested 120 million euros, an annual average of 12 million euros, and has gone from 380 workers in 1997 to 600 today. Moreover, it has generated 300 knock-on jobs, basically for handicapped people at Talleres Gureak.

Massive turnout of visitors to Orkli’s stand at Climatizacion 2007.

If during the last fair Orkli exceeded all its expectations in terms of the turnout of visitors, this time the number of people visiting its stand went up by more than 40%.

With 40% more visitors to its stand, Orkli presented its latest new products: components for solar heating systems, although some of them already formed part of the current range, new ones were presented to complete the range, as part of Orkli’s commitment to the environment, which is endorsed by the fact that the company won the European Environmental Award in 2004.

Since the launch of underfloor heating in 2005, Orkli has continued to record significant growth in its Lurbero underfloor heating and cooling system. The Underfloor heating team has been working on the development and innovation of this central heating system and one of the new features presented at the fair were its plates, fully developed and manufactured by Orkli, with a simple design to facilitate the fitting of the pipes.

Another new feature: a simple solution for joining pipes to radiators in valve installations, the Connecta coupling-to-pipe system, a system valid for all types of pipes which makes the fitter’s work easier.

The final touch was a prize draw, which enabled Orkli to reward current and potential customers: a weekend in San Sebastian for two people which was won by a fitter from Santoña (Cantabria).

Sales Convention 2007 and celebration of Orkli’s 25th anniversary

Orkli has made the 2007 annual Sales Convention coincide with the celebration of its 25th anniversary. The events took place on 2 February 2007 at the NH Hotel in San Sebastian and the Kursaal Auditorium, respectively.

Once again the leading role in this event was played by Orkli’s agents and representatives, both from Spain and abroad, as the results for 2006 have once again exceeded all of Orkli’s expectations for a year which was mainly marked by a strong increase in the price of raw materials. The targets for 2007 follow the trend of the last few years with increases in sales of more than 15-20% over the previous year, with the forecast for France, UK and Germany being to increase sales by more than 30% this coming year.

Thermostatic valves, in both the monotube and bitube versions and the Lurbero underfloor heating system have mainly contributed to these results, without forgetting the wide range of other products (home automation components, zone valve, safety units, climate control,...) which also played an important role.

The big family which makes up our sales network has once again consolidated itself as a driving force for the future, which is already, in part present in the reality of the central heating market for Orkli, sharing with Orkli’s engineers, salesmen and managers, its enthusiasm for offering the market and, in short, end users, products which directly help to provide greater comfort and energy savings and indirectly help to reduce any environmental impact.

The final touch to this convention was the gala to celebrate Orkli’s 25th anniversary held at the KURSAAL in San Sebastian, which as attended by more than 600 people, including members, agents, guests and people from the Mondragón Corporación Cooperativa and the Basque Government. The event which looked back over the last 25 years ended with a party in the Kursaal auditorium.

Orkli celebrates its 25th anniversary.

On 2nd February last Orkli, a co-operative belonging to the Mondragón Corporación Cooperativa (MCC), celebrated its 25th anniversary at the Kursaal in San Sebastian.

The 2nd February 2007 will be a date to remember for Orkli, a special milestone in its history. On that day an event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the setting up of the company was held at the Palacio Kursaal in San Sebastian. The event was a gala attended by more than 600 people, including members of the co-operative, agents, guests and dignitaries.

The party started with the screening of retrospective pictures of Orkli and an emotional tribute to the founding members of the co-operative.

The following people took part: Jesus Catania, president of the General Council of the MCC; José Mª Ormazabal, director of Goierri Lanbide Eskola; Iñaki Alkorta, managing director of Gureak; Manu Beraza, managing director of Orkli; José Luis Arizkorreta, president of Orkli; and Joseba Akarraga, minister of the Basque Government.

Delightful pieces of music and a number of videos about Orkli (ranging from a greeting from the workers at the Orkli plants abroad to the social work carried out by the company today) were shown during the celebration, making it a charming day, well organised and really well attended, as is clear from the fact that there were more than 600 people present.

Business development:

Orkli is the world leader in the field of thermoelectric safety for gas appliances, manufacturing magnetic units and thermocouples for boilers, water heaters, gas cookers, etc. With 60% of the world market share in the sector, it has double the share of its closest Japanese competitor. It is also the market leader in central heating components in Spain, offering all types of valves for central heating and domestic hot water.In 2006, Orkli posted a turnover of more than 135 million euros, which was 16% more than the previous year, with international sales accounting for about 75% of the total, and a high level of profitability. Its customers are the leading manufacturers in the sector, it sells its products in 65 countries and has sales offices of its own in 20 of these countries. In terms of the company’s strong international presence, its production plants abroad stand out.

In recent years Orkli has stood out for its strong and continuous investment process and a significant amount of job creation at its Ordizia plant, together with knock-on employment in the local area. In the last 10 years, the company has invested about 12 million euros a year on average, going on to have a workforce of more than 600 people and generating another 300 knock-on jobs, basically for handicapped people at Talleres Gureak. For 2007, Orkli plans to invest around 20 million euros, mainly in innovation and the automation of its production lines with the incorporation of high technology.

Its dynamism, in socio-business and innovative terms, has been more than apparent in the last two years with the launch of underfloor heating under the Lurbero brand and, more recently, with the setting up of a new co-operative Ceramat, to manufacture gas burners. It is Orkli’s aim to continue its commitment to the product innovation which the market is demanding. This is why components for solar heating systems, some of which have already been part of the company’s range for several years, are becoming another of the main objectives of Orkli’s development team.

The 2005 Climate Control fair was the platform for the launch of the Lurbero underfloor heating activity. Early in 2003, Orkli carried out a Strategic Innovation Process which, after a lot of reflection, led to the idea of developing the underfloor heating activity in view of the market trend on the one hand, and on the other the fact that Orkli’s long experience in world of central heating would lead to good results in the short term, something which has been confirmed over the last two years.The success achieved has been due to a number of different factors including the service offered with the Lurbero underfloor heating system, with an integrated solution, personalised attention, technical advice with an assistance service provided during installation and after sales service, with a warranty certificate also given. In the last year, the consolidation of the training offered by Orkli to hundreds of installers, both at the company’s facilities, and in areas close to where it has sales agents, has been very important for both existing and potential customers. This training has also been extended to any central heating product offered by Orkli, purely with the aim of ensuring the correct operation of the products manufactured by Orkli.To complete this service, Orkli has set up an Installer’s Help Line to answer any questions about the world of central heating, always with the aim of satisfying customers and indirectly helping them to obtain greater comfort.

As staying at the forefront means a significant commitment to R&D, Orkli tackles this challenge as part of its R&D strategy, based on the company’s basic objectives, which include internationalisation and innovation both in terms of products and business management.

Orkli at Climatización 2007- Stand 4D 414
